The Crumpany is located in Portland, Oregon, in Multnomah County. We honor the Indigenous people whose ancestral lands we reside on: Multnomah, Clackamas, bands of the Chinook, the Tualatin, Kalapuya, Molalla, Yamhill, and many other Indigenous tribes whose homes were along the Columbia and Willamette Rivers. It is important to acknowledge the ancestor's spiritual connection as the original protectors of this land and recognize that we are here because of the devastating subjugation perpetrated upon them.
We also acknowledge that Portland, OR has a large Urban Native American population with over 380 federally recognized Tribes in the Metropolitan area. We also acknowledge the colonialism policies of genocide, relocation, and forced assimilation that continue to impact many Indigenous/Native peoples today and recognize their resistance, resilience, strength, wisdom, and perseverance through tribal cultures and traditions for future generations.
We commit to continuing to educate ourselves and others about the history and peoples of the land we occupy and do whatever we can to honor that history and work to make amends for the harm that has been (and continues to be) done to Native Peoples and their land.
